Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
