۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
