No! By the moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the guilty ones: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
