And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
