Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 Thamud, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
