The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created the human 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
