The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
