The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
