The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then he mustered 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
