He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
