Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 These are the fellows of the righthand. 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
