And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 then We gave them in the place of evil good, till they multiplied, and said, 'Hardship and happiness visited our fathers.' So We seized them suddenly, unawares. 95 But if the people of these regions had believed and feared God, We would surely have showered on them blessings of the heavens and the earth; but they only denied, and We punished them for their deeds. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure that Our wrath would not come upon them at night while they are slumbering? 97 Or, do the people of those towns feel secure that Our punishment will not come to them by daylight while they are at play? 98 Do they feel secure against God's devising? None feels secure against God's devising but the people of the lost. 99
