Have you not seen how those who dispute the signs of God are turned away? 69 Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know,- 70 when they shall have to carry the shackles and chains [of their own making] around their necks, 71 and are dragged into burning despair, and in the end become fuel for the fire [of hell]. 72 Then it will be said unto them: where are those whom ye have been associating? 73 Besides Allah? They shall say: They are gone away from us, nay, we used not to call upon anything before. Thus does Allah confound the unbelievers. 74 'That is because you rejoiced in the earth without right, and were exultant. 75 Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant! 76 So be patient [Prophet], for God's promise is true: whether We show you part of what We have promised them in this life, or cause you to die first, it is to Us that they will be recalled. 77 And indeed, [O Muhammad,] We sent forth apostles before thy time; some of them We have mentioned to thee, and some of them We have not mentioned to thee. And it was not given to any apostle to bring forth a miracle other than by God's leave. Yet when God's will becomes manifest, judgment will [already] have been passed in all justice, and lost will be, then and there, all who tried to reduce to nothing [whatever they could not understand]. 78
