Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
