The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the House inhabited 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
