The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
