The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
