The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
