The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
