Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Indeed, what you are promised is to occur. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 The Messengers will receive their appointments. 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress, 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
