The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
