Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the loosed ones successively 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 To clear or to warn. 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor shall they be given permission, so that they can apologize. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations). 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 40
