The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
