Alshu'araa' 2 of 11
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 Send with us the Children of Isra'il? 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 “And you committed the deed of yours that you committed, and you were ungrateful.” 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). 21 And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So Moosa put down his staff and it became a visible serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
