The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
