The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
