The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
