Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
