Do not the people who inherited the earth from the (earlier) inhabitants perceive that We could afflict them too for their sins if We pleased, and put seals on their hearts that they may not hear (the voice of truth)? 100 Such were the towns whose story We (thus) relate unto thee: There came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs): But they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus doth Allah seal up the hearts of those who reject faith. 101 We did not find the covenant upheld by the majority of them, but We found most of them evildoers. 102 After the time of those people, We sent Moses with Our miracles to Pharaoh and his people, but they too rejected Our miracles. Consider, how terrible the end of the evil-doers is! 103 Moses said, 'Pharaoh, I am a Messenger from the Lord of all Being, 104 [Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel." 105 [Pharaoh] said, "If you come with a sign, then produce it, if you are telling the truth." 106 Then [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick and behold! it was a serpent, manifest! 107 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white [with radiance] for the observers. 108
