Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
