Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
