The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
