Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
