The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
