Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
