Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 "But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right). 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
