Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
