The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
