When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
