Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 and pay no heed to the counsel of those who are given to excesses 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They replied: "You are nothing but one of those who are bewitched; 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 159
