۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
