Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

Perdition overtake both hands of Abu Lahab, and he will perish. 1 His property and worldly gains will be of no help to him. 2 [In the life to come] he shall have to endure a fire fiercely glowing; 3 And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), or use to slander him). 4 [who bears] around her neck a rope of twisted strands! 5

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
