Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
