Mention in the Book Abraham; He was truthful and a Prophet. 41 when he spoke [thus] unto his father: "O my father! Why dost thou worship something that neither hears nor sees and can be of no avail whatever to thee? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient. 44 Father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Compassionate Lord might strike you and you may end up as one of Satan's companions?" 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblest in my invocation to my Lord." 48 So, when he went apart from them and that they were serving, apart from God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a Prophet; 49 We granted them Our blessing and high renown. 50
