The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 And I do not ask you any reward for it, my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
