The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
