'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
