The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 it will be a hard day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
