The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
