A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 Then shall we question those to whom Our message was sent and those by whom We sent it. 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 And the measuring out on that day will be just; then as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is heavy, those are they who shall be successful; 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
